In this Theory Talk, Martin Shaw challenges Michael W Doyle's vision of 'liberal peace'. Shaw argues that modern liberal states enjoy peaceful relations because they have been subsumed into the US-led Western bloc. However, this appears to have failed to prevent democratizing states from falling into conflict, or the reckless use of military power by liberal states in countries like Iraq.
