This comparative study of local UN peacebuilding activities in Haiti, Liberia and South Sudan concludes that UN personnel do adapt their activities to local circumstances. Unfortunately, their multilateral activities and projects also tend to be poorly coordinated, both internally and with other international and national actors. As a result, UN peacebuilding activities in these three countries have been marred by duplication of effort, low implementation rates, and suboptimal outputs.
