The need for energy resources has brought new focus on nuclear power in Latin America, but its revival faces political, security, and practical challenges for the region, the US, and the international community. This report provides an analysis of US-Latin American nuclear cooperation. It concludes that the rising interest in nuclear power brought important regional risks. However, it also finds that there is - with the exception of Brazil - a strong regional consensus against nuclear weapons.
