The aerospace and defense industries are on the brink of a major shake-up. The aircraft producers will have to meet booming demand for civilian planes, while defense companies face slashed military budgets and different military priorities. Both sectors of the industry will need a serious restructuring to adapt to the changing market, with consolidations and take-overs constituting a major trend. This paper argues that their consequences will be felt in Central and Eastern Europe, with Poland, as the biggest defense market in the region, at the forefront.
