This study explores the phenomenon of displacement in the urban environment and the implications and challenges it poses for humanitarian action in Gaza. Thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza are still waiting for a home. Although the vulnerabilities of the displaced do not differ considerably from the non-displaced, this study found that displacement did heighten some vulnerabilities, largely by forcing families to live in overcrowded conditions and take on debt in order to rebuild homes or meet rental payments. The working paper concludes by giving recommendations to the national authorities, international governments/donors, humanitarian and development organizations.
