This note overviews the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by the UK's armed forces. More specifically, it explores the advantages and disadvantages of UAVs, the different types employed by British forces in Afghanistan, the rules of engagement that guided their use, and the concerns they continue to raise among their critics.
