The implications of the unexpected success of the All-Ukrainian Association "Svoboda" in the Ukrainian parliamentary elections are discussed in this commentary. The author argues that the big electoral success was achieved thanks to the anti-liberal component of the party's manifesto. It can be expected that Svoboda will make efforts to join in or even incite new waves of public protest, in order to promote its social and nationalist messages. This may contribute to increasing the popularity of nationalist ideas and to a further radicalization of sentiments in Ukraine.
