The colonial bond between the two countries has allowed Zimbabweans to migrate to the UK over a period of decades. Larger flows of emigration have generally followed significant events in Zimbabwe, such as the war for independence and the country’s crisis. The latter has led to emigration on a larger scale than ever before. Basing on interviews conducted with Zimbabwean migrants in 2012, this policy brief shows that Zimbabwean migrants are generally ambivalent towards return despite relative political and economic stability.
