This paper provides a security-oriented analysis of the 2003 US-led war against Iraq. It examines the impact of the war on international security in general, and on transatlantic relations in particular. The author discusses the specific lessons and implications arising from the conflict, and distinguishes between inherent features in the international security arena highlighted by the Iraq crisis on the one hand, and genuinely new situations and forces for change created by the war on the other hand.
