2013
The year 2013 is a time for both realism and ambition in European foreign policy. Finding a path out of Europe’s current economic crisis continues to be a key concern. However, weak economic growth should not distract Europe from pursuing an active foreign policy. The contributors of this volume address European foreign policy in 2013 on issues including human rights, climate change and defense. These are examined both in the context of Europe’s neighborhood and in its relationships with major global actors. Overall, the contributors note that Europe, despite its own internal difficulties, can make a unique contribution to global politics.
