This policy brief discusses the implications of recent domestic political developments in the Ukraine on the country's relations with the EU. It notes that although the actions of the country's regime have jeopardized Ukraine’s declared goal of European integration and have pushed the country into greater isolation from the West, there is still hope. The polls not only exposed Ukraine's corrupted political system, but also the resilience of society to an illiberal regime. The authors recommend the incumbent Party of Regions to cooperate with independent parliamentary candidates and the EU to enhance its engagement with civil society and support grassroots initiatives.
