As this brief describes, the Turkish government has decided to increase its peaceful production of nuclear energy. In fact, it has reached tentative agreements with Russia and a Japanese-French consortium to build a nuclear power plant on the Mediterranean coast and one on the Black Sea. As the brief’s author observes, however, the fates of these projects aren’t sure. They will depend on effective vendor financing and suitable political arrangements with Russia.
