This paper reports on the proceedings of the 18th annual Japan-US Security Seminar. In 2012, the security relationship between the two countries continues to evolve. Domestic transitions in China and North Korea create new uncertainties. At the same time, South Korea's sometimes belligerent attitude towards Japan further complicates the region's dynamics. The conference is an opportunity for key US and Japanese stakeholders to share their views with the aim of fostering cooperation in this trans-Pacific relationship.
