This monograph examines the growing involvement of Mexico's armed forces in the country's 'war' on drugs. More specifically, it worries that their involvement is 'militarizing' Mexican society, which should continue to be guided by the country's political, economic, and social institutions. The US, in turn, should be cautious in embracing military solutions to local problems. What's really necessary is for local leaders to challenge the drug cartels operating in their midst.
