Over the past few years Europe’s commercial relationship with Asia has lost much pace relative to concurrent developments. The European Union has slowly ceded its position as the largest trading partner of several Asian countries, mainly to China. Hence, the author suggests that the EU develops a coherent trade strategy for Asia that defines its priorities and relations with the region over the long term.
