This bulletin evaluates the feasibility and potential impact of the Trump administration’s anticipated changes to US climate policy. Although an official withdrawal from the Paris Agreement seems unlikely, the American government may simply choose to ignore its voluntary national contributions. Meanwhile, Trump’s proposals to ease national regulations on energy extraction could severely damage the pace and scale of domestic and global emissions reductions.
