The US is changing its policy towards the Middle East and North Africa in response to shifting geopolitical realities in the region. Confronted with new political actors and intractable political issues, President Obama has adopted a more realist approach. This is not the US turning its back on the Middle East or Europe, but rather a redistribution of resources as a consequence of an adjustment of US tactics towards the region.
