Concrete action is needed to improve the UN Security Council’s practice of referring situations to the International Criminal Court (ICC). This was the main message to emerge from a roundtable discussion on the relationship between the ICC and the Security Council held in November 2012. During the meeting, a number of suggestions were made regarding ways in which the Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and member states could contribute to improving the relationship between the council and the ICC.
