This paper analyzes military transition in Eastern Europe following the end of the Cold War. The authors examine the restructuring and downsizing processes in the armed forces of former Warsaw Pact member states. Particular attention is also give to factors contributing to the successful demobilization and social reintegration of professional soldiers.
