This report explores how developments in China have exacerbated the significant challenges facing the country’s police and other domestic security forces. In particular, it focuses on the difficulties for the country's policing institutions in preserving social stability and the key factors that restrict the police from effectively managing domestic discontent and social upheaval. It also talks about policy implications for the US related to these issues.
