This brief argues that the United States should not forget about the need to deal with Iran's emerging anti-access/area-denial strategy. In the wake of the US military’s withdrawal from Iraq, the Arab Spring, and Iran’s increasingly transparent efforts to develop nuclear weapons, the authors contend that the US has an opportunity to re‐think its future plans and force posture for the Persian Gulf.
