This paper reflects the rapporteur’s interpretation of a seminar discussion on the impact of natural disasters and climate change on displacement. The rapporteur argues that forced displacement due to disasters and climate change is a major international problem that is bound to get worse. Therefore a more coherent and consistent approach at the international level is needed to meet the protection needs of people displaced by such catastrophic events.
