This publication discusses the Baltic states' approach to Central Asia in the fields of politics and values; trade and energy; security; development assistance. The Baltic states, the author argues, should make use of their valuable experience in moving from a rigid Soviet system to democracy and open market economies to engage more fully in promoting democratic reforms and economic liberalization in Central Asia.
