This paper looks at the 'Great Triangle' of the Asia-Pacific region formed by the United States, Russia, and China. The strategic arsenals and military programs of the two traditional superpowers and the steady buildup of the nuclear and missile capabilities of China give global significance to this triangle. The authors argue that China must be taken into consideration when discussing subsequent US/Russian initiatives on arms limitations and reductions and explore the options which may convince China to join the disarmament process.
