This report looks at the organizational structure and priorities of UNESCO, Palestinian membership in the organization and the US response to the granting of this membership. The Obama administration and many Members of Congress opposed Palestine's admission, maintaining that Palestinian statehood can only be realized through direct negotiation between Israelis and Palestinians rather than through membership in UN entities.
