This policy brief looks at al-Qaida and the wider jihadist movement. The author argues that while the movement is no longer a closely structured and integrated organization, the idea is very much alive and has a potency that is not being fully recognized. He suggests that a more localized version of the movement has succeeded al-Qaida.
