This monograph discusses how the United States can best preserve its strategic relationship with Egypt given the changes in the country following the Arab Spring. The author analyzes the developments in Egypt from January 2011 to August 2012, especially the relationship between the military and the civilian authorities. He then outlines several scenarios that could ensue and gives recommendations on how the United States can best preserve its strategic interests in Egypt while also supporting the country’s democratic transition.
