This issue of the Perspectives on Terrorism offers insights into several issues pertaining to the field of terrorism studies. Articles featured in this issue range from an analysis of the results of a comprehensive survey of global neo-jihadi terrorism in the West and a discussion of the implications of maritime piracy coming from the coast of Somalia, to an examination of the state of affairs in Afghanistan and an investigation of the diffrences between wars fought against "civilized states" and wars fought against "savages". In addition, this issue presents five book reviews on terrorism, counterterrorism, and political violence.
