This working paper argues that the form of results-orientation used in international cooperation and peacebuilding is more of a hindrance than a help. This is because it is often unable to adapt to the complexities and difficulties of conflict-affected environments. The author argues that in order to address this issue, good standards of practice in the field should be applied, alternative methods should be experimented with, and spaces in which methods can develop outside institutionalized processes should be created.
