This report analyzes Cuba’s political and economic situation, US policy toward Cuba, and selected issues in US-Cuban relations. It discusses the human rights situation and political prisoners in Cuba, and examines economic policy changes under Raúl Castro. It also provides an overview of past US policy toward Cuba, the situation under the Obama administration, and the future of such policy. Finally, it analyzes many of the key issues in US-Cuban relations.
