This bulletin discusses the European Parliament's 2013 resolution which opposed the deal on the EU Multiannual Financial Framework 2014–2020 (MFF). The author argues that the resolutions combined two rationales. First, well-founded technical concerns advocating improvements in the efficiency of the financial perspective. Second, MEPs’ concerns over their continued marginalization in the changes taking place in the eurozone's architecture. She concludes that MEP's might see MFF negotiations as a way to gain concessions from member states, but that it might be difficult to establish a coherent coalition on the issue.
