This paper argues that after a decade of moving away from a policy of European integration, Spain has put the EU back at the center of its national agenda. However, the author believes that Spain should not just limit itself to accepting decisions taken at the supranational level. Instead, Spain should attempt to shape these decisions. To assist in this process, the author gives ten recommendations to increase Spain’s influence. He suggests that Spain needs to clarify what progress in integration it wants. Furthermore, Spain must improve its method of forming European policy and make alliances with EU institutions and other members.
