This brief discusses the possibility of improved relations between China and Taiwan following the 2012 power transition in China as well as the opportunities this could create for Poland. The author argues that a new element in China's approach toward Taiwan might pressure the latter to begin political negotiations. However, it also suggests that Taiwan will focus on institutionalizing relations that will open reciprocal representative offices, but avoid political talks. Finally, it argues that rapprochement between China and Taiwan could create an opportunity for Poland to increase its economic cooperation with both countries.
