This commentary argues that North Korea, despite its demonstrations of force, is in a relatively weak strategic position. Any major attack on South Korea would result in a coordinated military response by Seoul and the US that would ultimately prevail. China is also reluctant to support Pyongyang's aggressive behavior as its view of North Korea as an asset is diminishing. The author concludes that North Korea's fundamental economic and military weaknesses would jeopardize its existence in any confrontation and that South Korea should stay resolute amid the North's threats.
