This brief analyzes the role Egypt's judiciary has played since President Mubarak was ousted in 2011. It talks about the High Administrative Court’s dissolution of the NDP and suggests this politicized the judiciary. It also discusses the role of the judiciary, the country's elections, and the shaping of the new constitution. The author argues that battles over judicial authority will continue and that the course of Egypt’s transition will depend on the relationship between the government and the judiciary.
