This brief examines the possible return of Nawaz Sharif to government in Pakistan after nearly a decade of exile. The author discusses the policies Sharif might adopt with regard to the US's counterterror actions in South Asia as well as his relations with extremist groups and the country's generals. He also looks at the implications his return could have for the region and for US-Pakistan relations.
