This paper comments on the elections in Pakistan in May 2013, including the risks and opportunities it could bring about. The author suggests that Pakistan's first-ever democratic transition of power and the subsequent changes in the highest posts in the army and judiciary allow for some optimism for the consolidation of democracy in the country. He also believes these factors will lead to more stability within the region.
