In this testimony made to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, the author describes causes for optimism and pessimism regarding Afghanistan's prospects for stability and security after the 2014 NATO troop withdrawal. He outlines three significant upcoming events, and makes several recommendations for US foreign policy to improve stability in Afghanistan.
