This brief argues that contrary to popular appearances, Belarus's security remains tightly bound with Russia's. The benefits, after all, are mutual. Moscow maintains its traditional strategic depth, at least vis-a-vis Europe, while Minsk reaps economic benefits it otherwise wouldn't have. So, it's a good deal all around, right? No, says the brief. Growing military integration between the two countries is costing Belarus its sovereignty and lower-level forms of autonomy.
