This report examines the US/NATO led mission in Afghanistan and argues that its strategic objectives can still be met. The authors suggest this is possible due to the progress of the Afghan security forces as well as improvements in areas such as of health, education, and agriculture. However, they also suggest the US and its partners could undermine this progress if they accelerate their disengagement prior to their withdrawal and under resource their commitments to the country after 2014.
