This policy brief provides insights into Sweden's relations with Central Asian countries, as well as its strategy in the region. It discusses Sweden's approach in areas such as trade and energy, security, and development assistance, with a particular focus on political relations and values. The author concludes that even though Sweden does not have a major presence in Central Asia, the region is gradually coming onto the Swedish government's foreign policy radar. This trend is likely to continue, partly due to Sweden's long-term commitment to peaceful economic and social development in Afghanistan.
