This brief looks at the transnational dimension of the civil war in Syria. Specifically, it examines the strength of the regime, the evolution of the rebellion, and the involvement of Israel and Iraq. The author argues that Israeli and Iraqi involvement have complicated the war and that it is highly unlikely that any resolution can be achieved without a sustained commitment to conflict resolution by the United States and Russia.
