This paper provides an overview of NATO’s Steadfast Jazz 2013 training maneuvers in Poland and the Baltic States, which are expected to confirm the Alliance’s ability to defend the territories of the new member states. The limited presence of western allies, however, means that the full potential of the training is not being realized. Therefore, the author recommends that Poland should take the lead in promoting joint exercises, which could in turn enhance Polish influence within NATO.
