This Brief discusses how the EU’s response to the Arab spring has largely failed to address countries where no regime change has occurred, particularly the Palestinian Territories. The author contends that Palestinian protests cannot just be seen in terms of the nationalist conflict unique Israeli-Palestinian context. Instead, when engaging with Palestine, she claims is imperative for the EU to learn from ongoing processes of change elsewhere in the region, specifically the effectiveness of 'people power', the importance of democracy and the political inclusion of Islamism.
