This paper defines the world of the 21st century as a 'People's Republic of Surveillancestan', a place where everyone has rights, though none of them are adhered to. The author argues that the techno-social revolution spurred by the internet and social media is taking away our personal privacy. This revolution is driven by a competition between the commercial giants and encouraged by governments desperate to ensure we are safe and secure.
