This paper discusses unresolved and potential conflicts between the south Caucasus countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and examines the interests of important actors such as Russia, US, EU, NATO and Turkey. The author claims that, as long as Russia maintains a status quo policy and keeps outside actors at arm’s length from the region, the unresolved conflicts will continue. The brief concludes with recommendations on how to change this situation.
