This brief discusses the significance of US President Obama's trip from June 26 to July 3, 2013 to Africa. In particular, it describes the geopolitical, economic and developmental reasons for the trip. The author argues that despite the cost, the trip was worth making so as to improve American and African relations as well as to help US trade liberalization goals and combat terrorism.
