This report suggests that the US should devote more resources to cultural dialogue and exchanges in its relations with Iran. To further this argument, it reviews the history of the relationship between the two countries and the programs of cultural diplomacy the US has had with Iran. While the US has sought other methods to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons, the authors argue that the goodwill of Iranian people is ultimately the biggest US asset in changing the direction of the Islamic Republic. They therefore provide a number of recommendations that could further such cultural dialogue.
