This paper looks at the role of the G20 in strengthening financial regulation and financial sector reform. It analyzes the challenges to this endeavor and the measures the G20 has implemented in order to achieve it. In also examines the prospects for future regulation and suggests that the G20 should ensure that the impact of the regulatory reforms are assessed, particularly in terms of balancing the quest for stability with the economic impact of the reforms.
