This paper examines the historical development of China's nuclear programs, both military and civilian. The author traces China's involvement in international conventions aimed at nuclear disarmament and discusses the beginnings of Chinese nuclear conversion in the 1980s. The paper analyzes the military and civilian implications of China's nuclear conversion process from both a national and international point of view.
